InnoTrafik Oy is participating in the project in which Stora Enso is testing a new kind of automation solution at Uimaharju factory area, Joensuu, Finland. A self-driving truck is carrying out some of the transportations in the area by driving 1,4 kilometer's distance among other traffic approximately fifteen times a day with a speed of twenty kilometers per hour. The target of the project is to i.a. reduce emissions and to improve traffic safety. The project also involves Mantsinen, Hiab, VTT and Nokian Tyres.
InnoTrafik Oy has provided a new kind of Cyclope active smart transportation signs, which were installed along the route. The signs detect the approaching self-driving truck and warn pedestrians and other traffic. The Cyclope Anti-collision system, which is also provided to the project by InnoTrafik Oy, supports personal alarm-detectors, which warn about the approaching truck. There are great expectations for the new automation technology and good test results enable larger introduction of the technology in Finland and abroad.
